EV Zone: Lebanon's FIRST Smart Charging Network For Electric Cars

EV ZONE is a pioneering project that was launched on May 4, 2023 under the slogan “Charge Everywhere”. The project brought together the efforts of IPT Group and Phoenix Energy in the form of a joint venture to launch the First National SMART Network of EV Charging Stations in Lebanon that will be available at supermarkets, major malls, hotels, resorts and gas stations all over the Lebanese territory. Read more

Announcement Of The Results Of the IBDAA Competition

After the cooperation agreement between IPT Energy Center (IPTEC), the CSR arm of IPT Group, and the Nature Conservation Center at the American University of Beirut (AUB-NCC), IPTEC sponsored the competition that happened on the 28th of April 2023, at AUB where 180 students were brought together from 5 universities, forming 77 teams, to tackle the municipal solid waste crisis in Lebanon head-on.

IPTEC Offers Scholarships & Prizes to the Winners of the Fabriano Drawing Contest- 2nd ceremony

For the second time this year, IPTEC team and Fabriano collaborated together to distribute certificates and prizes to the students who won in Fabriano 2014-2015 drawing contest.This time, the ceremony took place at Saint-Antonine school in Zgharta, in the presence of the school’s director Sister Julia Khoury. IPTEC Expands the Reach of its Eco-driving Awareness to Fatri

IPTEC team held a conference in Fatri to raise awareness about Eco-driving practices and benefits. People of all ages attended including parents and children, in addition to the region’s officials. At the end, everyone received the eco-driving kit. On the occasion of Army day, the Lebanese Cycling Federation has organized a “Border to Border” bike ride from Aarida in the North to Nakoura in the South on August 1 & 2 with the support of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, General Jean Kahwaji, and the Lebanese Olympic Committee. As part of its corporate social responsibility, IPT sponsored this event to promote biking as a sport and an eco-friendly way  to move around in Lebanon. IPTEC Workshop at the ESCWA 

Under the patronage of his Excellency the Minister of Energy and Water Mr. Arthur Nazarian, the Directorate General of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water in collaboration with the ESCWA and IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) organized a workshop on "Safety and Environmental Challenges in the Distribution of Petroleum Products in Lebanon" on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the UN House ESCWA Building in Beirut. The workshop discussed the regulations and procedures pertaining to the work of petroleum companies in the field of hydrocarbons’ distribution and sales, in addition to the related specifications for cleaner fuel, and prevention procedures and risk management in order to ensure public safety and preserve the environment. As part of its eco-driving awareness campaign, IPTEC is promoting the new driving law through supporting "بتفرق ع دقيقة" program on LBCI. The program is broadcasted daily before the news for the period of 3 months . It offers tips about the new driving law in an easy and simple animation. Respecting the new driving law does not only save lives but also the environment because it helps apply simple eco-driving practices that reduce air pollution and fuel consumption. Read More

IPTEC Seminar at AUB 

The AUB Student Representative Council organized a seminar on "Air pollution in Lebanon: Status and Proposed Solutions" with the participation of the Ministry of environment (MOE), IPTEC and UNDP. A first presentation tackled the air quality management at the MOE and the contribution of the transportation sector to air pollution and climate change at the national level. A second presentation followed on the proposed technologies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector. Read More

IPTEC Eco-driving Awareness at Ecole Sainte Therese-Amioun 

As part of IPTEC's collaboration with Fabriano, IPTEC visited Ecole Sainte Thérèse-Amioun where the team introduced the students to simple eco-driving practices to promote responsible driving that helps save energy and reduce air pollution from land transportation in Lebanon. Eco-driving kits were distributed as part of the activity, including eco-driving licenses that summarize the eco-driving benefits and tips. Read More

IPTEC-UNDP MoU on Sustainable and Renewable Energy 

IPTEC signed a 3-year MoU with the UNDP on sustainable and renewable energy and eco-driving at the UNDP office in Beirut on Thursday 15th of January 2015.

The purpose of the agreement is to collaborate between both parties in several areas of common interests including a joint lobbying and support for activities related to sustainable and renewable energy, transportation sector and the oil and gas sector in Lebanon.

Out of the main topics agreed upon are to raise awareness on environmental hazards related to the oil and gas sector, tackle environmental and health and safety measures for petrol stations and natural gas prospective stations, update the standards of fuel in Lebanon, develop and disseminate the concept of eco-driving, and promote public transportation in Lebanon. The MoU warrants the achievement of IPTEC objectives through supporting essential topics to the Center’s activities.

UNDP and IPTEC agreed to work together among other areas to:

• Promote and develop projects and activities related to sustainable energy, fuel efficiency, and air pollution reduction;
• Raise awareness on environmental hazards related to the oil and gas sector;
• Tackle environmental and health and safety (HSE) measures for petrol stations and Natural Gas prospective stations;
• Update the standards of fuel in Lebanon;
• Develop and disseminate the concept of eco-driving;
• Promote public transportation in Lebanon;
• Promote pedestrian safety;
• Provide mutual technical assistance needed to implement concrete jointly developed activities related to the areas agreed upon;
• Consolidate and strengthen relations, dialogue, and cooperation, with all stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, and international actors; and
• Develop annual work plans and action plans for the duration of the partnership reflecting on jointly selected projects and priorities.

IPTEC Workshop at the ESCWA

Background
The workshop was held in conjunction with IPTEC’s National Campaign for Air Pollution Reduction in Lebanon through Efficient Energy use in Land Transportation, on 13 November 2014 at the UN House ESCWA Building in Beirut with the support of H.E. the Minister of Environment, Mr. Mohamad Al Mashnouk. 

Who attended?
This pivotal event attracted a number of experts from the MoE, ESCWA and UNDP in addition to many concerned stakeholders, professionals, and members of the press. 

What was the focus?
The two-session workshop highlighted the impact of land transportation on air pollution and climate change in Lebanon. It also provided a road map for the successful journey towards air pollution reduction and the efficient use of energy in land transportation. 

Real impact
This workshop successfully reached out to key figures and decision makers who have the power to spark change on the national level. It also showcases IPTEC’s reach, motivation, and commitment. Read More

IPTEC Runs Beirut Marathon to Promote "Eco-driving" 

IPTEC team took part in Beirut Marathon "10 KM Run for a Cause" category in support of KUNHADI Association, in the presence of MP Mr. Simon Abi Ramia and Ms. Aline Lahoud. This activity came to extend the reach of IPTEC’s Eco-driver awareness campaign even further and to highlight the importance of using non-motorized and healthier ways to move around in Lebanon. The Eco-Driver Awareness Campaign

Background
As part of the National Campaign for Air Pollution Reduction in Lebanon through Efficient Energy Use in Land Transportation, IPTEC launched the Eco-Driver awareness campaign to promote practices that reduce fuel consumption and the level of pollutants emitted while driving. The campaign was launched on 15 September 2014 at a press conference under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Mr. Mohamad Al Mashnouk and in the presence of Ms. Aline Lahoud ambassador of the campaign. The conference was followed by a visit to IPT’s Dekwaneh gas station in Beirut where a roadshow was organized alongside Virgin Radio Lebanon. Dr. Toni Issa (President of IPTEC) and the Minister of Environment, Mr. Mohamad Al Mashnouk, were both present. 

Making a difference by reaching out to many
After the launch, the campaign came to life through weekly activations at most IPT stations across Lebanon where Eco-leaf & Pollumonster mascots got in touch with passer-byes to explain to them the benefits of eco-driving and distribute the campaign's eco-driving license. This ensures that the central message reaches as many Lebanese drivers as possible. IPTEC is also using online activations on social media to engage the youth via online games and discussions that increase awareness.

Real impact
This campaign is really gaining momentum and is getting more people thinking about their role in lessening the impact on the environment. It also highlights the central role IPTEC plays in engaging the community. Read More

IPTEC Collaborates with Fabriano to Promote "Eco-driving"

The center collaborated with Fabriano and a large network of schools in a fun initiative that invites students to use art to express their concerns about the air pollution caused by land transportation and to illustrate their solutions. As part of the collaboration, IPTEC team also visited several schools across Lebanon reaching out to around 1,500 students getting them to know more about eco-driving practices. This activity is driven by IPTEC’s strong belief in the youth’s ability to become Lebanon’s future eco-drivers.
