IPT Participates in GCNL "Multi-Stakeholder SDG Forum 2018"

IPT participated in the 2nd edition of "the Multi-Stakeholder SDG Forum" organized by GCNL (Global Compact Network Lebanon), chaired by MP Dr. Dima Jamali, on the 18th of October at the Grand Serail under the patronage of H.E. Prime Minister Saad El Hariri. This Forum followed the round table discussion that was held on the 5th of October, and is considered to be a unique opportunity and platform for all stakeholders, leaders and individuals representing the public and private sector, civil society organizations and local authorities to promote multi-stakeholder dialogues, catalyze collaborations, explore innovative solutions to accelerate the SDGs in Lebanon, and work together towards the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 2030 Agenda. 

The Forum was packed with impactful presentations and live panel discussions consisting of prominent national and international pioneers to ignite a sense of awareness and urgency towards transforming words into actions.

As a member of the SDG Council and Goal Leader for SDG 7, Dr. Toni Issa, Vice Chairman of IPT Group and President of IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) participated to promote the use of Affordable & Clean Energy and shared IPT's successful experience in this field. In his speech, Dr. Issa confirmed again IPT's commitment to energy sustainability, and explained that it is ingrained in the company's daily operations which reflects positively on the image of IPT, and induces increased customers' trust and business growth. He also assured his dedication to fulfill his new role in the SDG council as a Goal Leader for SDG 7, and promised to keep implementing projects that fall under this goal, as well as inspiring the private sector institutions and encouraging them to embed sustainability into their daily business practices to reach a better and more sustainable future for all.

The event started with an opening speech by Dr. Dima Jamali, GCNL’s President, followed by an inspirational remark from Ms. Pernille Kardel, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, and two prominent keynotes by Prime Minister Mr. Saad Hariri and H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden who  expressed their immense support to achieve the UN 2030 agenda.  

Four panels followed: 

  • The first panel was moderated by Dr. Dima Jamali, GCNL’s Goal Leaders who are championing the SDGs, and discussed exemplary actions towards reaching the 2030 agenda, where speakers delivered inspirational messages related to SDGs, including SDG 7, to establish a connection and sense of urgency with the audience to reach the 2030 agenda.
  • The second panel was moderated by Ms. Dina Harake, Executive Director at GCNL, and discussed Sustainable Development, Reforms and Public Good.
  • The third panel, moderated by Mr. Sami Nader, Head of Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs, was about the Power and Impact of the Private Sector in Achieving the SDGs.
  • The fourth panel, moderated by Mr. Maurice Matta, revolved around the Role of Classical and Digital Media in Mainstreaming the Notion of Sustainability.


IPT supports GCNL's initiative and hopes to reach a society that embraces sustainability and transforms global goals into local business.
