Under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Information Mr. Ramzi Jreij, IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) and UNDP launched for the first time in Lebanon the Energy Awareness Awards (EAA) in a press conference on September 11, 2015 as part of the 2015 Beirut Energy Forum at Le Royal Hotel, Dbayeh.
The press conference was convened in the presence of H.E. Minister Jreij, UNDP Country Director Mr. Luca Renda, IPTEC President Dr. Toni Issa, and UNDP Assistant Resident Representative Mr. Edgard Chehab, in addition to several economic, environmental and civil society organizations as well as representatives of the media.
Following the opening notes, Mr. Chehab explained the aim of the project which is to promote sustainable consumption of energy sources and raise awareness on energy-related matters. The objective of the awards is to recognize efforts put forth by institutions and organizations in integrating sustainable practices within their fields in order to reduce air pollution and improve environmental performance. Accomplishments in the scope of different categories will get the chance to be recognized and rewarded.

This partnership between IPTEC and UNDP reinforces IPT’s efforts towards the promotion of renewable energy and the use of cleaner energy sources and comes as part of its comprehensive and sustainable development strategy.
