Under the patronage of his Excellency the Minister of Energy and Water Mr. Arthur Nazarian, the Directorate General of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water in collaboration with the ESCWA and IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) organized a workshop on "Safety and Environmental Challenges in the Distribution of Petroleum Products in Lebanon" on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the UN House ESCWA Building in Beirut.
The opening session saw statements by Mrs. Aurore Feghali, Director General of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water representing Minister Nazarian, Mrs. Roula Majdalani, Director of the Sustainable Development and Productivity Division (SDPD) at the ESCWA, and Dr. Toni Issa, IPTEC President. Following the opening, two sessions took place moderated by Dr. Walid Deghaili, ESCWA consultant in the energy field. It is worth mentioning that this workshop in the field of environmental safety in the distribution of petroleum products comes in response to the need of discussing the regulations and procedures pertaining to the work of petroleum companies in the field of hydrocarbons’ distribution and sale, in addition to the related specifications for cleaner fuel and prevention procedures and risk management in order to ensure public safety and preserve the environment.
