IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) Supports the Lebanon Climate Act

"The transportation sector is responsible for about 27% of the CO2 emissions and total pollution", says Dr. Toni Issa - CEO of IPT Group and President of IPT Energy Center (IPTEC) - in the documentary that was presented during the launching of the Lebanon Climate Act event that was held at USJ Beirut on 18 June 2016, and organized by Green Mind, in collaboration with Banque Du Liban and the UNDP, and supported by several sponsors including IPTEC.

As IPT is a leading oil & gas company, Dr. Issa expressed his concerns with regards to the increasing effect of the transportation sector on air quality in Lebanon. Thus, he highlighted IPTEC's most recent activities in helping reduce air pollution in Lebanon, with a special focus on IPTEC's "National Campaign for Air Pollution Reduction in Lebanon through Efficient Energy Use in Land Transportation” and "Be An Eco-Driver" Awareness Campaign, launched earlier in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, the ESCWA, and the UNDP.

Dr. Issa finally announced his support to Lebanon Climate Act and held his breath for a minute to "Let Lebanon Breathe Again", knowing that this initiative aims at creating economic growth through adding value to the society by addressing challenges to Climate Change. It also helps catalyzing the involvement of the private sector in the wider climate change community and encouraging them to contribute in a profitable manner to combat climate change.

The LCA event featured a unique power-panel involving H.E. Riad Salameh (Governor of Banque Du Liban), Mr. Carlos Ghosn (CEO of Renault-Nissan alliance), Mr. Luca Renda (UNDP Lebanon Country Director), and Mrs. Nada Zaarour (President of Green Mind NGO). As part of the event, a short video was showcased including the testimonials of several executives around Lebanon on their commitment to combating Climate Change.
