As for Nabatieh, it is an important town in southern Lebanon on both the economic and cultural levels. It is the 10th-most-populous town in Lebanon with more than 85,000 people, and the birthplace of several educated and well-known men, including linguist and Arab nationalist leader Ahmad Rida, historian Muhammad Jaber Al Safa, scientist Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah (nephew of Ahmad Rida) and theologian Sheikh Ahmed Aref El-Zein.
