IPT Team Cleans Amchit Boulevard Beach

In the occasion of the "World Clean-Up Day", and in line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, IPT team in collaboration with Amchit municipality, M&R Cleaning Services, Tannourine Water, Bon Appetit convenience stores, Latte Art coffee, Youth Energy for Development- YED, Bonheur Du Ciel, Tanshi'a Masihiya and Les Scouts De Byblos (Group Lycee Amchit- GLA), organized on 19 September 2020 a clean-up event at Amchit boulevard beach under the theme "Your Environment: Your Responsibility!", in the presence of the President of YED, Mr. Hani Imad, the President of Bonheur Du Ciel, Father Majdi Allawi, and the Vice Chairman of IPT Group, Dr. Toni Michel Issa.

This environmental initiative involved a large participation from IPT managers, employees and workers who attended with their families and friends along with the mentioned NGOs and local institutions, to take part and highlight their determination in preserving the environment, while abiding by the highest health & safety preventive measures.

Worth-noting that the initiative this year involved cleaning a vast area of the shore that extends along the Amchit boulevard, equivalent to a distance of no less than one kilometer. Most importantly, it wasn't limited to waste collection only, but also to waste sorting, as well as waste recycling undertaken by M&R.

The volunteers were efficiently grouped in 3 teams and sent to different locations to ensure maximum area coverage. Teams had to collect the different types of wastes, separately: plastic, glass, carton and paper, and other types including organic waste.

The procedure went as follows: after sorting the recyclable waste (plastic, glass, carton and paper) all bags containing the same type of waste were placed in their related containers, which totaled 20 units. The containers were then transported by a specialized truck to the M&R processing plant in Gherfine, where the sorting was thoroughly checked and the waste was recycled.

As for the remaining non-recyclable type (including organic, medical, tissues, clothes, etc.), the Municipality of Amchit took charge of transporting it to the landfill in Gherfine, for proper processing and burial.

IPT would like to thank all those who participated and put their efforts in making this environmental event a successful one, and reaffirms its determination and perseverance in initiating similar activities to reduce the pollution level and preserve a clean environment, despite the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
