IPT Participates in the Gas Stations Build Conference - Abu Dhabi

IPT, represented by its CEO and Vice Chairman Dr. Toni Issa participated in the 2nd "Gas Stations Build Middle East" that was held in Abu Dhabi on 9 - 10 January. The conference discussed the future of gas stations in the light of the changes within the industry happening worldwide.

Players of the industry estimates that in 2040, around 30% of cars will be powered by electricity, and the transport sector will be relying more on natural gas, hydrogen, biodiesel, ethanol, and other environmentally friendly energy sources without the extinction of the usage of gasoline and diesel.

This fact will shape the future of gas stations which will have to mirror a diversity of offerings coupled with technical advances that would raise energy efficiency and sustainability.

Dr. Issa in his intervention, emphasized the opportunities ahead of the next change phase to adopt innovative solutions in the fields of technology and sustainability. He concluded the future trends in four important points:

  • the diversity in fuel offering as in adding new product range including Biofuel, ethanol, LNG, Hydrogen Gas, and electric charging points
  • to be driven by differentiation strategies, innovation, technology and strong partnerships creating a convenient one-stop shop to broaden the customer base and trigger positive customer feedback
  • to undergo substantial digital makeover, adapt to new economy and vehicle ownership models, and create charging lanes on gas stations
  • to rely more on sustainability by adopting green design and minimal energy and water consumption strategy, running safe efficient and responsible operations and contributing to a more sustainable energy future

The case study was based on IPT and highlighted IPT Energy and Environmental Management Strategy and "IPT Model of a Sustainable Gas Station".
