Beirut’s explosion on the 4th of August 2020 lead to the destruction of several hospitals, as well as the displacement of many families with children undergoing cancer treatment.
Najla Hallit & Deeb Akkawi wanted to make a difference and decided to raise $15,000 (the average cost of an antibiotic course for a child) to help the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) who has been devoted since 2002 in the treatment of children with cancer at no cost, solely dependent on donors.
Their intention was to cycle the Lebanese borders in 3 days, a stunning yet challenging 545Km ride and an elevation of 6290m, which started Friday 11 September, with the support of Beirut By Bike.
IPT couldn’t let such an initiative unnoticed and decided to participate in sponsoring their humanitarian initiative. A donation box was also placed in IPT Headquarters to encourage employees’ participation as well.
We at IPT are very proud that Najla & Deeb were able to fulfill the challenge and raise the needed amount. As no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted, and because cancer doesn’t wait, we admit that this initiative is an inspiration to all of us in these difficult times, and will help make a difference in saving the lives of the children battling cancer in Lebanon.
