About "Btaaboura"
*Btaaboura is 74 km away from Beirut. Rising at 300 m altitude above sea level, Btaaboura is a typical Lebanese village where olive groves are the most common sight. Btaaboura road leads to the village of Kaftoun, where you can not miss the exceptional Orthodox monastery, Our Lady of Kaftoun, carved into rocks amidst olive and orange trees. In Kaftoun, by the banks of the El Jaouz River (Walnut River) you will find many caves that dot the area. Regretfully, one important cave, known as the Hanania cave - named after the saintly monk Hanania-  was recently destroyed, in 1970, by the new road constructed to provide vehicle access to the Theotokos Monastery. Hanania is a Hebrew word that means "God has been gracious". If you are of the adventurous type, you might consider climbing to the top of the El Majdel Mountain and look for catacombs. In addition, There are several pedestrian bridges across the El Jaouz river still standing from Roman and Arab times.
