The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is implementing clean and renewable energy projects as a strategy to combat climate change, according to media reports.
The digital newspaper Correo del Golfo reported Friday that the UAE has already taken the necessary steps to use this type of energy, particularly solar energy, to meet most of its needs and thus achieve sustainable development and preserve the environment.
The nation is preparing to say goodbye to oil and plans to do so through solar power stations such as Noor Abu Dhabi, Shams Abu Dhabi and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park in Dubai, which rely year-round on the country’s sunny climate, the information adds.
In this regard, Emirates plans to harness renewable resources to meet about 50 percent of its energy needs by 2050.
