LRI and the Michel Issa Foundation for Local Development (MIF) planted the seeds of environmental change on April 22, 2025, by launching Lebanon’s first Eco Clubs activity at the Cedar Nature Reserve in Ehmej Arz Ehmej Conservation Park, in partnership with IPT. This milestone event brought together students, school principals, municipal leaders, and partner organizations to celebrate a new chapter in youth-led sustainability.
Driven by a shared commitment to environmental education and local development, the pilot Eco Clubs program will empower students across seven schools to champion pollution awareness, biodiversity conservation, waste reduction, and other sustainable practices. Participants showcased their action plans before exploring the reserve through a guided nature walk and hands-on activities that reinforced teamwork and environmental stewardship.
This initiative marks the beginning of a nationwide expansion, as LRI, MIF, and IPT gear up to open Eco Clubs in additional schools. To learn how your school can join the movement and cultivate tomorrow’s green leaders, contact us today!
