"Michel Issa Foundation (For Local Development)" (MIF) was founded on January 14, 2012 under Registration Notice 71 to promote the concept of local development as a main factor that builds local capacities through the implementation of development programs in collaboration with concerned authorities and through the support of the civil society and local administrations.

Objectives

  • Promote the concept of local development as a main factor that builds capabilities and achieves a balanced welfare among individuals and groups.
  • Strengthen the overall capabilities of the local community through the implementation of local development projects and the support of the civil society and the local administration.
  • Motivate people to live in their hometowns and enhance their participation in the process of local development.
  • Discover and invest in the capabilities and cognitive abilities of the local community to achieve local development.
  • Emphasize the role of administrative decentralization in the local development process, achieve a balanced growth, and collaborate with concerned authorities to adopt and implement local development projects.
  • Support the collaboration between different Lebanese regions and back the implementation of joint activities and programs with the help of specialized organizations, local authorities and the private sector.
  • Refer to international know-how and expertise in the field of local development and seek mutual agreements with experts in this field.
